Tumors are rare within the foot and ankle area when compared to the rest of the body.

There are benign tumors and pseudotumors (which do not imply anarchic cell growth) and malign tumors which are either of primary origin within the foot and ankle or secondary layers of a tumor located elsewhere within the body.

The frequently encountered so-called “Morton’s neuroma” is a pseudotumor.
